This course provides a balance between the practical and the theoretical aspects of the subject. Candidates will read, analyse and act in public performances from recognised texts. They will also have the opportunity to develop their own work through improvisation and other theatrical techniques. Candidates will study five texts over the two years. These will reflect a range of periods, styles and genres, giving candidates the opportunity to extend their knowledge and understanding of theatrical styles.

Entry Requirements

+ A minimum of six GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English or Welsh, Maths is desirable

+ GCSE (A-C) in Drama or English is desirable, but not essential in all cases

+ Previous experience in acting or technical work is not mandatory, but is an advantage.

Career Prospects

Theatre Studies can be studied in Higher Education and can be useful in Theatre, Television, Media and Communication careers.
