This programme will suit individuals who are currently working in the field of Substance Misuse and those who wish to gain experience. This course has been developed to empower individuals to tackle problems caused by substance misuse.

Modules include: Substance Misuse (Addictions), Using Research in Health and Social Care Practice, Reflective Practice in Substance Misuse, Inter-agency Working in Substance Misuse and Legislation and Policy in Substance Misuse. 

Entry Requirements

Entry criteria detail a typical offer but the College considers all applications on an individual basis which means that we could make offers based on qualifications, personal profile and experience. If you have any queries regarding your offer please contact our Admissions Team.

Typical offer:  2 A Levels at C grade or MM profile from a BTEC Level 3 Diploma and three GCSEs at Grade C or above, to include English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications).

This programme requires an enhanced DBS check, charged at an additional cost to the student.

Career Prospects

This qualification will enhance career prospects within the health and social care field, particularly working with voluntary agencies dealing with substance misuse and as advice workers in the Health and Social Care and Social Services.

Students may progress onto the Diploma in Higher Education in Public Health.

Assessment

You will usually have to complete portfolios, presentations and written assignments as you progress through the programme.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is ‘a method of assessment that considers whether an individual can demonstrate that they can meet the assessment requirements for a unit through knowledge, understanding or skills that they already possess and do not need to develop through a course of learning’. If individuals can produce relevant evidence, that fully meets learning outcome requirements then RPL can be given for their existing knowledge, understanding or skills.
