ICT is used everywhere in today’s world and people with ICT skills are very much in demand. A Level ICT combines practical skills with academic theory. Students study a wide range of relevant topics to meet the demands of a future working with the latest technology in a variety of settings.
The skills that are developed over the length of the course will enable successful students to analyse current information systems and then to design and build improved systems to meet the changing needs of their organisation.

Year One

- IT 1 (2 1/4 hr exam):
- Data, Information & Knowledge
- The Value & Importance of Information
- The Quality of Information
- Validation & Verification
- The Capabilities & Limitations of ICT
- The Use of ICT
- Presenting Information
- Networks
- The Human Computer Interface (HCI)
- Social Issues
- Database Systems

IT2 (Course Work):
Presenting Information Task – students are given the opportunity to explore, design, develop, test and document software.

Year Two
- IT 3 (2 ½ hr exam):
- The Use & Impact of ICT
- Networks
- The Internet
- Working with ICT
- ICT Security Policies
- Database Systems
- The Management of Change
- Management Information Systems (MIS)
- The Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

IT4 (Course Work):
Development Project – students will have the opportunity to explore, define, investigate, analyse, design and develop a useable database system. This then needs to be implemented, fully tested documented and evaluated.

Entry Requirements

6 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent) to include Mathematics and English.
