The course is designed to provide specialist, work-related training in Dance, through a variety of units including; Choreographic Principles, Choreographing Dance, Developing/Applying Contemporary Dance Technique, Developing/Applying Classical Ballet Technique, Tap, Jazz Dance, Body Maintenance, Movement in Performance, Community Dance Practice and Theoretical Approaches to Dance.

As part of One Vision Dance Company students should be working towards achieving a career in the dance, musical theatre or performing arts industry. If students want to learn in an exciting, vibrant and challenging environment where focusing on themselves as individual dancers is appealing, then this is the best course for them.

This course is reflective of dance standards across the UK, in an industry where hard work, talent and a desire to succeed is imperative. Students on this course are encouraged to research and apply for higher education courses, both at university and vocational dance schools. Audition techniques are an integral part of the course structure and students gain opportunities to work with dance professionals and professional dance companies every term.

Regular class, studio and theatre assessments within a wide variety of unit based coursework assignments. Assessment is both practical and written, largely consisting of dance performance work.

Dance Clothing - £30

Jazz Shoes (black) £25

Leotard, ballet shoes, jazz shoes, tap shoes, black leggings, black vest top and other practical dance materials. Students will be expected to attend one theatre visit per term.


Entry Requirements

GCSE Dance is an advantage but it is not a requirement for this course. A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above is essential, inclusive of English. Previous dance experience is highly desirable and students should have an interest in training as a multi-talented dancer. A willingness to take part in extracurricular dance activities in association with LIFT Dance Company is advised.
