Certificate in Higher Education in Working with Vulnerable Adults

This programme will suit individuals currently or aspiring to work with vulnerable adults.

Modules include: Working with Vulnerable Groups, Legislation and Policy in Working with Vulnerable Adults, Advocacy and Representation, Working with Vulnerable Adults - Practice Module, Social Care and Health Organisations and Using Research in Health and Social Care Practice.

Entry Requirements

Entry criteria detail a typical offer but the College considers all applications on an individual basis which means that we could make offers based on qualifications, personal profile and experience. If you have any queries regarding your offer please contact our Admissions Team.

Typical offer: 2 A Levels at C grade or MM profile from a BTEC Level 3 Diploma and three GCSEs at Grade C or above, to include English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications).

This programme requires an enhanced DBS check, charged at an additional cost to the student.

You may be able to demonstrate or have certificated prior learning that can be legitimately used to establish a later entry point into the course or provide exemption from modules. If you believe this is the case please contact the Course leader as soon as possible to discuss a recognition of prior learning application.

Career Prospects

This qualification will enhance career prospects within the health and social care field, particularly working with voluntary agencies dealing with vulnerable adults and as advice workers in the Health and Social Care and Social Services.

Students may progress onto the Diploma in Higher Education in Public Health.

This programme is awarded by the University of South Wales.


The programme will include lectures, seminars, project work, workshop and tutorial sessions. You will usually have to complete portfolios, presentations, case studies and written assignments as you progress through the programme.

You are required to provide sufficient stationery for to support your teaching and learning. Printing charges are 0.02p per black and white A4 and 0.06p for a colour A4. On enrolment you are allocated 3.00 for printing costs on your student ID card. Additional credits can be purchased in the libraries

An additional cost for this programme is a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. You will need to complete a DBS application form and provide documents to prove your identity. Payment is required at or before enrolment.
