Diploma in Higher Education in Public Health

This programme will suit students wishing to develop their knowledge of current public health initiatives. This would supplement current job roles in health, social or childcare and potentially provide avenues for further career progression or study. The course reflects the changing approaches to health moving from an “illness” approach to a “wellness” approach.

Modules include: Social Epidemiology, Introduction to Public Health, Health Protection, Understanding Public Health Policy, Partnership Working and Integrating Research with Health and Social Care.

Entry Requirements

Successful completion of a HNC or Certificate in Higher Education or Level 4 equivalent qualification in a related subject.

If you hold a HNC or Certificate in HE in another subject area, entry onto the course is determined by the modules you have achieved.

This programme requires an enhanced DBS check, charged at an additional cost to the student.

Whilst the above entry criteria detail a typical offer, the College considers all applications on an individual basis which means that in some cases it is appropriate to make those who do not meet the criteria an offer based on their personal profile and experience. You may be able to demonstrate or have certificated prior learning that can be legitimately used to establish a later entry point into the course or provide exemption from modules. Career Prospects

The recognised progression route for this course is the BSc in Care Studies - top up degree.

Graduates have employment prospects in a wide range of health and social care disciplines, for example: health promotion specialists, charity officers, community development workers, medical sales representatives, health service administrators and managers.

You are required to provide sufficient stationery for to support your teaching and learning. Printing charges are 0.02p per black and white A4 and 0.06p for a colour A4. On enrolment you are allocated £3.00 for printing costs on your student ID card. Additional credits can be purchased in the libraries

An additional cost for this programme is a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. You will need to complete a DBS application form and provide documents to prove your identity. Payment is required at or before enrolment.
